A video from our friends in Tokyo, approximately 370 km from the epicentre off the coast after the devastating Tōhoku earthquake, 2011. This video was taken from occupants of the 47th storey of a Japanese high-rise building videotaping adjacent buildings shaking after the main earthquake vibrations. Unconfirmed reports from the occupants were that the buildings shook for 10 - 30 minutes until the perceivable motion subsided. The reason why the buildings shook for such long durations was because of their lack of inherent damping. Added damping reduces the amplitude of vibrations of high-rise buildings as well as the duration perceivable motion subsides.

We realize dynamic projection mapping onto deforming non-rigid surface based on two original technologies. The first technology is a high-speed projector "DynaFlash" that can project 8-bit images up to 1,000 fps with 3 ms delay. The second technology is a high-speed non-rigid surface tracking at 1,000 fps. Since the projection and sensing are operated at a speed of 1,000 fps, a human cannot perceive any misalignment between the dynamically-deforming target and the projected images. Especially, focusing on new paradigms in the field of user interface and fashion, we have demonstrated dynamic projection mapping onto a deformed sheet of paper and T-shirt. The parallelized large-eddy simulation (LES) model PALM simulates a neutral turbulent urban boundary layer in Shinjuku, downtown Tokyo, Japan using GIS data provided by CADCENTER, Tokyo. The simulation lasts 3 h with a domain size of 900 m x 900 m x 492.5 m, periodic boundary conditions and 5 m uniform grid length. The model is driven by a 1 m/s westerly wind applied at the top of the domain (Couette flow) and initialized with a vertical profile obtained from a 1D model prerun. PALM's Lagrangian particle model is used to track passive tracers with 1 h lifetime that are released every 5 min from four vertical line sources (colour ~ current height, tail length ~ velocity).
